Great stay after a long day
After a tiring day, we found this spot and the staff were super nice! The room was really clean and comfy, perfect for a good night's rest. Breakfast was hearty and just what we needed. They've got a lovely bar too, but it could get a bit busy. Would recommend it for sure!

Charming hotel with newly renovated interiors and a warm atmosphere. Breakfast was splendid, featuring local Welsh pastries, and dinner was exceptional with a variety of well-prepared dishes. Friendly staff made the experience even better. some dishes lacked attention. one guest compared the chicken stuffed with haggis to school dinners, and the quality of Guinness served was disappointing, not allowing for proper settling.

The room was newly refurbished and pretty smart. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice. There were some soundproof issues, and you could hear a bit from the other rooms. But overall, it was a decent space. Plus, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which helped a lot.

I recently visited The Grapes and had a really enjoyable time. The breakfast was top-notch with decent coffee, which set a positive tone for the day. The staff made a strong impression. they were friendly and attentive, especially Steve and Amie. The room was cozy and well-furnished. I appreciated the secure storage for our bicycles overnight, which is perfect for cyclists. Dinner was great, and there was a nice selection of local produce. A couple of minor issues came up—a noisy toilet fitting and a macerator—but they didn't spoil my experience. Everything else was solid, making this a charming stop.

Just a decent option for a short weekend trip in Newcastleton with great value for the money. The food was hot as it should be, especially the sticky toffee pudding that was so light and tasty. Make sure to try the childrens menu for some great options.

easy access to parks and fascinating local history
During my two-night stay, I loved being just less than a 5-minute walk from Liddesdale Heritage Centre and Museum, where I could dive into local history, and also enjoyed relaxing by Liddel Water, about 500 meters away, making my weekend city strolls all the more enjoyable. the single room was comfy with a nice shower, perfect for a solo traveler like me, but the old building's soundproofing could be a bit lacking.
